2010- the year of Warhammer Fantasy.

This thread over at Warseer adding fuel to what I've been hearing and reading from some folks at GW as well as various places on the web. 2010 is gearing to be a year for WFB, like 2009 was for 40K, We got Skaven in this November followed by Beast of Chaos and Tomb Kings the first half of next year with third unnamed release in the 4th quarter.

The bigger news however is aa huge organized summer campaign in the works, based on the Empire versus Von Carstein (my friend Bill and I are going to love that) and an actual WFB rules amendment (lets call it 7.1 Ed) with changes in some rules, specifically cavalry (whether this changed rules or added is unknown) and a bunch of second, third and even 4th wave release of cavalry models for various armies..Rumor has it that my wish of new fancy Empire Knights in line with GW's great new plastics is finally coming, although I currently have 17 Knights completely done. I'll definitely be adding a whole lot more...hell with I have extra...I could run an all mounted Empire Army..(thou I don't how well that would do, but it would sure look cool)

Further analysis from ultimate insider and rumorlord "Harry" say yes he's hearing these things too...but certain things are not necessarily tied together (meaning the rules, the campaign and new models aren't all tied together but are planned releases, order and relevance still unknown). However it shakes out, next year is going to be great for us WFB players. Also pure speculation but with the success of Space Hulk and year of WFB releases in the works can a new updated Warhammer Quest also be in the works?..think about it.

There will be a major Warhammer Fantasy summer campaign next year. It will include some new rules ("lets call this V7.1.") and includes a lot of mainly cavalry miniatures (mostly plastic).

These are rumoured to be:
DE plastic Dark Riders and chariot.
Chaos (demon?) wave (Centigors?, Seekers?)
Empire wave (knights?, war altar?)
Goblin wave (wolf riders?)
Vampire Count wave (black knights?)
Dwarves (Forge World airship!, no cavalry)

Most rumours are by steppingonyou and confirmed by 75hastings69.

Be aware that these rumours come quite early, more than half a year ahead of the date, so don't expect too many details and revelations for the next few months.

November-
Skaven- New Army book and new plastic Models based the Skaven art for Computer Game WAR. Skaven are much more sinister looking than some of the older models plus they are bringing back the Doomwheel!..with a smaller new plastic model. We are a going to see of ton of the older Skaven armies out of mothballs and back on the table in November, that's for sure.


December- I'm not seeing, reading or hearing much for December releases they are a variety of new Models for all the lines coming out before years end perhaps December is the month for the lot of them..we are also so for some kind of War of the Ring release..I assume before years end.



2010- Word out there is that 2010 is the year for Fantasy as this year was Dominated by 40K..two 1st quarter releases with a new Beast of Chaos army book and lots of new models and a new Tomb Kings of Khemri army book with new models.(likely slipping to second quarter) 3rd Book is speculation but Bretonnians is the leading candidate. Rumors of WFB 8th edition are out there as well..with the continuous power creep of the new books only a new ruleset can pull everything together.but I don't think they can do it until the oldest of those 6th ed books get a redo which after above only leaves Ogres...with Woodies and Dwarfs being the 1st books of an 8th Ed.

I'm not sure how things are getting so blown out of proportion with regards to the Q&A session, but having sat through it yesterday I feel like I should put a few corrections out here.

First, although Chaos dwarves and the additional imperial guard regiments were mentioned, both of them were in terms of "we will work our way around to all the races in all the game systems eventually" type terms. There was NO specific mention, or hint, that either of these armies would be updated in the near future.

Also, the rumor about a new race was put to the test, and found lacking, as Jervis and Tom Walton both indicated that there were plenty of armies they would like to do, but are unable to because of a need to support the existing armies which is enough work already.

Additional tiles for the Realm of Battle board was mentioned, but with the same caveat that I have heard from red shirts and retailers - additional tiles might be coming, but only if they sell enough of the boards to make it worth it, which they haven't done yet. Walton even refered to the RoB board as an experiment, because although they had been selling table top wargames for years, it was the first time that they had tried to sell the table.

About the only positive response that was given, besides the stuff that GW has already announced, was that apparently the larger kits (Baneblade, Shadowsword and Stompa) had been successful enough that we would see more kits of this type, possibly larger and more elaborate.

That would be what I got from the Q&A session. Hopefully someone else here will chime in and verify what I heard.

tudjátok mikor fognak ezek átállni a netes, ingyenes kódexekre? ha többe kerül majd az előállításuk, mint amennyi hasznot tudnak belőle produkálni. de szerintem ebben az esetben is várnak egy hosszabb ideig, hogy hátha megordul a trend... viszont ha egyszer meglépnék, akkor bizots lenne egy nem kicsi reklámkampány, hogy milyen jó is hozzánk a gw!
