Íme a leírás (a red poppy white feather-ből):
A Commonwealth platoon is a unit of 37 soldiers under the command of a second lieutenant (pronounced left-tenant in the Commonwealth and loo-tenant in the United States). A second lieutenant is the lowest rank of officer, ranking beneath a captain and a first lieutenant. The lieutenant's second-in-command (2ic) is a sergeant. While the lieutenant makes plans and issues the orders, the sergeant looks after the day-to-day running of the platoon.
The platoon has a headquarters section and three rifle sections. The headquarters section has the lieutenant, the sergeant, lieutenant's runner (who is also his batman or manservant), and two weapons teams, on with a light 2" mortar and one with a PIAT anti-tank launcher. These two teams support the rifle sections as needed.
A corporal commands each rifle section of ten soldiers with a lance corporal as 2ic. The rifle sections are divided into assault groups and gun groups. The lance corporal's gun group, armed with a Bren light machine gun, covers the assault group, under the corporal, as they work their way round the enemy flank to attack.

The US Army platoon is similar, but with different rank titles. At the start of the War, the US Army promoted every soldier one rank. They have the same number of troops, just different titles (a PFC is a Private First Class). The platoon has a lieutenant assisted by a staff sergeant and a slightly larger headquarters. Instead of a mortar and a PIAT, the headquarters has two light machine guns and a Bazooka anti-tank launcher.
The three sections (called squads) and are commanded by a sergeant. The sergeant has a specialist scout and a sniper as well as a fire team armed with a BAR automatic rifle. The corporal (2ic to the sergeant) commands another fire team with rifle grenades and rifles. With their rapid-firing semiautomatic Garand rifles, the two fire teams overwhelm the enemy with fire and work their way forward together.

In theory, a Leutnant leads a Zug (platoon or column in the German Army or Wehrmacht), although in practise, there were rarely enough officers to go around and a Feldwebel (senior sergeant) led the Zug instead. The platoon's second in command was an Unteroffizer (sergeant). An Obergefreite (corporal) leads each of the three Gruppen (plural of Gruppe or section) that made up the Zug. A Gefreiter assists each Obergefreite in running their section.
German tactics made the machine gun the main weapon of each Gruppe. The other soldiers (Grenadiers in German) were there to protect the machine gun team and carry ammunition. The German Army made increasing use of single-shot Panzerfaust anti-tank launchers as the war progressed and issued them to their individual Gruppen.
